Art Director
WSMV Television
Nashville, TN
March 1990 until August 1992

Recruited for the Art Director position by WSMV, my responsibilities for nearly 2-1/2 years included design and execution of station projects - planning, scheduling and project assignments, supervising design staff, and budgeting for art department expenditures.

WSMV channel 4 TelevisionIn this capacity, I coordinated on-air video graphics and print projects for the station and oversaw the installation and implementation of two Unix-based videographic design computers. To facilitate the growing print production requirements of the station, I initiated the purchase of desktop publishing tools in 1991. I oversaw this Macintosh-based system for use by both the art staff and sales department.

Video graphic projects included design work for Spotlight on Country with Demetria Kalodimos, produced locally and sold for national syndication, and the Miller & company show which featured Dan Miller for a national cable audience on The Nashville Network. Of course, there was heavy emphasis placed on designing the station on-air look, and daily news and promotion projects, as well.

Cameraman; Producer; Lighting Director
Jefferson-Pilot Teleproductions
Charlotte, NC
April 1978 until August 1985

JP SportsMy duties evolved over 7 years experience with the production company as a video cameraman, commercial producer, and lighting director. For much of that time, there was no in-house design position at JPT. While performing the duties of my position, I also began to create video graphics and animation for commercial and industrial clients, as well as for JPT's regional sports programming. I was directly responsible for developing and updating the graphics package for their coverage of Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) and Southeastern Conference (SEC) basketball and football network coverage. I took the opportunity to combine a love of design with production insight to become a production problem-solver, and fill a need within the company.
